The Red Horse Rides Again

Those of you who use the NWIPR School Birthday/Anniversary calendar will recognize this photo from our school’s early days and the poem from last month’s page…

Song of the Red Horse
Once children climbed on me to ride,
Bell’s sound summoned me to glide,
The rocking stilled, no ponies as before,
As horses pass and I shall sing no more.

Our school’s insurance policy required that we no longer have the horses on the swingset at school, so they were taken down.
In November of 2013, we bought them at the annual fall fundraising auction.

IMG_1662It was a bit of a process getting the right swingset, and having the brackets cut down at school and re-welded onto our swingset. (Just getting the swingset tipped up was quite a feat… as you can see here. : )

We are happy to report that the red horse rides again,
much to the delight of our children and any who come to visit us! : )
These horses have been around for almost 50 years…
wonder how many kids have enjoyed riding on them during that time?!!
