This is the winter that never ends…
We are 10 days away from the month of May,
and here in South Dakota
it’s still snowing. Hard.
Unbelievable!

Where is Spring?
Thursday, April 11, 2013
And there was light!
Or not.
After over 36 hours without electricity, we finally have had power. Hooray! : )Half an hour later it went out again. Just enough time to get half of the food put back in our fridge/freezer.
The six inches of snow we received overnight has complicated things a little. The schools in Sioux Falls will be closed tomorrow, for the third full day in a row.
And just in case you’re wondering, I do not own a device capable of connecting to the internet without electricity. (Although I may be looking for one after this.) These last two posts have been uploaded via the free Wi-Fi at a nearby coffee shop. : P
Since there wasn’t a whole lot else I could do, I took a few more pictures. ; )

Ice, ice, & more ice…
The calendar says it’s spring, but here in South Dakota, it definitely feels like winter.
As I type this post, we’ve been without electricity at our house for
nearly 24 hours, and the freezing rain is still coming down.
We are so thankful for our gas fireplace right now!
The devastating effects of the freezing rain and ice are everywhere…
View from our kitchen window.
A branch came down off the neighbor’s tree over our fence.
The icicles line every power line, fence, and horizontal surface in the area.
Looking from the garage at our the trees in our front yard.
Our neighbors to the south.
Notice the birch tree behind the evergreen is bent completely over.
Neighbors to the west, branches across the driveway.
Young trees in the median on 26th St. on the way to our new house.
Driving up to our new house. Couldn’t get very close because there were branches across the driveway.
Another one in front of the house.
Some branches down by our church.
No school for the kids today, Paul’s clinic is closed since there is no electricity. We are enjoying spending time together as a family, and are thankful to be warm and safe.
We have never seen ice like this before, that’s for sure!
Kindergarten Round-up
Last week Friday was a big day for Luke… Kindergarten Round-up!
He and Evan decided ahead of time that they were going to wear
their matching shirts, and were both very excited about it. : )
Next year’s Kindergarten class… Collin, Lanae, Luke, & Levi.
Next year’s Kindergarten, 1st, & 2nd graders
Mom & her boys... who are growing up so fast.
What a fun afternoon! : )
